Stem Cell Related Patent Number US4714680

Title:Human stem cells
Inventors:Civin, Curt I.; Baltimore, MD, USA
Summary:This invention describes human pluripotent stem cell suspensions, methods and uses thereof. Disclosed herein are monoclonal antibodies that recognize a stage-specific antigen on immature human marrow cells and methods by which the antibodies may be used in the isolation of cell suspensions from human blood and marrow which in turn may be employed in bone marrow transplantation. The suspensions are described as containing pluripotent lympho-hematopoietic stem cells while being free of mature lymphoid and myeloid cells. Therapeutic applications are directed toward bone marrow transplantation. This invention represents a continuation of other applications filed by the same assignee and inventor.
Abstract:Monoclonal antibodies that recognize a stage-specific antigen on immature human marrow cells are provided. These antibodies are useful in methods of isolating cell suspensions from human blood and marrow that can be employed in bone marrow transplantation. Cell suspensions containing human pluripotent lympho-hematopoietic stem cells are also provided, as well as theraputic methods employing the cell suspensions.
