Stem Cell Related Patent Number US4965204

Title:Human stem cells and monoclonal antibodies
Inventors:Civin, Curt I.; Baltimore, MD, USA
Summary:This invention introduces monoclonal antibodies, associated hybridomas, and methods and properties thereof. Described herein are monoclonal antibodies that recognize a stage-specific antigen on immature human marrow cells and methods by which these antibodies may be used in the isolation of cell suspensions from human blood and marrow which may in turn be employed in bone marrow transplantation. Further disclosed are cell suspensions containing human pluripotent lympho-hematopoietic stem cells, and uses thereof. Therapeutic applications are included for bone marrow transplantation as well as for the treatment of a number of diseases. This invention represents a continuation of other applications filed by the same assignee and inventor.
Abstract:Monoclonal antibodies that recognize a stage-specific antigen on immature human marrow cells are provided. These antibodies are useful in methods of isolating cell suspensions from human blood and marrow that can be employed in bone marrow transplantation. Cell suspensions containing human pluripotent lympho-hematopoietic stem cells are also provided, as well as therapeutic methods employing the cell suspensions.
