Stem Cell Related Patent Number US5484770

Title:Peptide compounds which inhibit the proliferation of epidermal or epithelial stem cells
Inventors:Laerum, Ole D.; Sandviken, Norway
Summary:This invention describes novel peptide compounds which inhibit cell proliferation of epidermal or epithelial stem cells. Described herein are pentapeptides and derivatives thereof such as derivatives which have one or more additional amino acids inserted in the sequence or added at the C- and N-termini and which result in the inhibition of stem cell proliferation. Further disclosed are other groups of novel peptides which exhibit specifically directed inhibitory action. Therapeutic applications are included for the treatment of psoriasis, autoimmune disorders and cancer.
Abstract:Pentapeptides and derivatives thereof, including derivatives having one or more additional amino acids inserted in the sequence and/or added at the C- and N-termini, have been found to possess good activity in the inhibition of stem cell proliferation. In addition groups of novel peptides are disclosed, having improved and/or specifically directed inhibitory actions.
