Title: | Lineage-directed induction of human mesenchymal stem cell differentiation | Inventors: | Bruder, Scott P.; Moreland Hills, OH, USA
Caplan, Arnold I.; Cleveland Heights, OH, USA
Haynesworth, Stephen E.; Cleveland Heights, OH, USA | Summary: | Described herein is a method of lineage-directed induction of isolated, culture-expanded human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs). The invention relates to a process by which the hMSCs are contacted with a bioactive factor capable of inducing differentiation into a single specific lineage of choice. Properties of the bioactive factor are elucidated herein, as are culturing conditions. Therapeutic applications in the regeneration and repair of mesenchymal tissue are included. | Abstract: | Methods for in vitro or ex vivo lineage directed induction of isolated, culture expanded human mesenchymal stem cells comprising contacting the mesenchymal stem cells with a bioactive factor effective to induce differentiation thereof into a lineage of choice as well as such compositions including isolated culture expanded human mesenchymal stem cells and bioactive factors effective to induce directed lineage induction are disclosed. Further disclosed is this method which also includes introducing such culturally expanded lineage-induced mesenchymal stem cells into a host from which they have originated for purposes of mesenchymal tissue regeneration or repair. | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US5736396 | Application Number: | US1995000377461 | Date Filed: | 24/01/1995 | Date Published: | 07/04/1998 | Assignee: | Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, USA |
