Summary:This invention introduces novel glutathione analogues and methods of their use in binding glutathione-S-transferase enzymes. Described herein is a method to potentiate the effect of a chemotherapeutic agent in a tumor cell according to a process by which the chemotherapeutic agent is administered to the tumor cell in combination with a potentiating amount of a compound, or of an amide, ester or hybrid amide/ester thereof. Chemical properties and configurations of the compound are disclosed, as are methods by which it may be used to stimulate the production of granulocyte macrophage progenitors in the bone marrow of a subject.
