Title: | Human prostaglandin transporter | Inventors: | Schuster, Victor L.; New York, NY, USA
Lu, Run; Bronx, NY, USA | Summary: | Described herein is a DNA encoding the human prostaglandin transporter protein (hPGT), methods and uses thereof. The invention relates to a purified and isolated nucleic acid encoding hPGT, the associated antibody that immunoreacts with the protein, the associated vector comprising a nucleic acid encoding the protein, a cell stably transformed with this vector, and a method for producing a recombinant hPGT. Further disclosed is a method for evaluating the uptake of a selected prostaglandin by cells expressing the nucleic acid encoding the hPGT. Also provided is a vector comprising the nucleic acid encoding a mutant hPGT, an embryonic stem cell comprising the nucleic acid encoding a mutant hPGT, and a nonhuman transgenic mammal whose germ and somatic cells contain the nucleic acid encoding a mutant hPGT. Therapeutic and experimental applications are included for the production of the recombinant protein and for the study of cellular prostaglandin uptake. | Abstract: | The present invention provides a purified and isolated nucleic acid encoding human prostaglandin transporter (hPGT). The present invention also provides a vector comprising a nucleic acid encoding human prostaglandin transporter (hPGT), a cell stably transformed with this vector, as well as a method for producing a recombinant, human prostaglandin transporter (hPGT). The present invention also provides a purified and isolated human prostaglandin transporter (hPGT), and an antibody immunoreactive with this protein. The present invention further provides a method for evaluating the uptake of a selected prostaglandin by cells expressing nucleic acid encoding human prostaglandin transporter (hPGT). Finally, the present invention provides a vector and an embryonic stem cell each of which comprises nucleic acid encoding a mutant human prostaglandin transporter (hPGT), a non-human transgenic animal whose germ and somatic cells contain nucleic acid encoding a mutant human prostaglandin transporter (hPGT) introduced into said animal, or an ancestor thereof, at an embryonic stage, as well as a method for producing the non-human, transgenic animal. | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US5792851 | Application Number: | US1996000706936 | Date Filed: | 03/09/1996 | Date Published: | 11/08/1998 | Assignee: | Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, Bronx, NY, USA |
