Title:Peptidoglycan biosynthetic gene murE from Streptococcus pneumoniae
Inventors:Peery, Robert Brown; Brownsburg, IN, USA
Skatrud, Paul Luther; Indianapolis, IN, USA
Summary:Described herein is a Streptococcus pneumoniae MurE protein, methods and uses thereof. The invention relates to isolated nucleic acid compounds encoding the MurE stem peptide biosynthetic gene of Streptococcus pneuinoniae. Further disclosed are vectors and transformed heterologous host cells for expressing the MurE enzyme product, and a method for identifying compounds that inhibit stem peptide biosynthesis. This invention represents a variation of other applications filed by the same assignee.
Abstract:The invention provides isolated nucleic acid compounds encoding the murE stem peptide biosynthetic gene of Streptococcus pneuinoniae. Also provided are vectors and transformed heterologous host cells for expressing the murE enzyme product and a method for identifying compounds that inhibit stem peptide biosynthesis.
