Title: | Compositions and therapeutic methods using morphogenic proteins and stimulatory factors | Inventors: | Lee, John C.; San Antonio, TX, USA
Yeh, Lee-Chuan C.; San Antonio, TX, USA | Summary: | Described herein are methods and materials for inducing mammalian tissue formation with a mixture of morphogenic protein and a stimulatory factor. The invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprised of a morphogenic protein stimulatory factor (MPSF) for improving the tissue inductive activity of morphogenic proteins, particularly those belonging to the BMP protein family. Further disclosed are properties of an implantable morphogenic device containing a morphogenic protein and a MPSF disposed within a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, and which is capable of inducing tissue formation in allogeneic and xenogeneic implants. Also included is a prosthetic device comprised of a prosthesis coated with a morphogenic protein and a MPSF, and methods by which this combination may be used to promote the in vivo integration of such an implantable prosthetic device to enhance the bond strength between the prosthesis and the existing target tissue at the joining site. Therapeutic applications are included for use in implants and on prostheses, in the repair of bone or cartilage defects, and in the treatment of tissue-degenerative diseases. | Abstract: | | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US5854207 | Application Number: | US1998000027873 | Date Filed: | 23/02/1998 | Date Published: | 29/12/1998 | Assignee: | Stryker Corporation, Kalamazoo, MI, USA |
