Stem Cell Related Patent Number US5856136

Title:Human stem cell antigens
Inventors:Au-Young, Janice; Berkeley, CA, USA
Summary:Described herein are the human stem cell antigens SCAH-1 and SCAH-2, methods and uses thereof. The invention relates to purified polynucleotides encoding stem cell antigens, and methods by which their partial sequences are isolated from THP-1 and bladder tumor cDNA libraries such that novel human stem cell antigens are identified and encoded therein. Further disclosed are methods for the genetically engineered expression of vectors and host cells comprising the nucleic acid sequences encoding the stem cell antigens. Therapeutic and experimental applications are included for the screening of inhibitory compounds, and in the diagnosis and treatment of SCAH-1 or SCAH-2 related conditions such as tumors.
Abstract:The present invention provides polynucleotides encoding stem cell antigens, the partial sequences for which were initially isolated from THP-1 and bladder tumor cDNA libraries and which identify and encode novel human stem cell antigens. The invention provides for genetically engineered expression vectors and host cells comprising the nucleic acid sequences encoding the stem cell antigens.
