Title: | Human chemotactic protein | Inventors: | Li, Haodong; Gaithersburg, MD, USA
Ruben, Steven M.; Olney, MD, USA
Sutton, III, Granger G.; Columbia, MD, USA | Summary: | Described herein are the DNA encoding the human monocyte chemotactic protein-4, methods and uses thereof. The invention relates to the human chemotactic protein polypeptide, the RNA encoding it, and associated antagonists and recombinant techniques. Therapeutic applications of the chemotactic protein are included for the use of stem cell mobilization in myeloprotection and in neuronal protection, and in the treatment of tumors, in the acceleration of wound healing, in the prevention of parasitic infection and in the regulation of hematopoiesis. Therapeutic applications of the antagonists are included for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lung inflammation, allergies, infectious diseases and in the prevention of inflammation and atherosclerosis. Also provided are diagnostic assays for identifying mutations in nucleic acid sequences encoding the polypeptides described herein, and for the detection of altered levels of the polypeptide in the diagnosis of disease. | Abstract: | A human chemotactic protein polypeptide and DNA (RNA) encoding such polypeptide and a procedure for producing such polypeptide by recombinant techniques is disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for utilizing such polypeptide for preventing and/or treating for stem cell mobilization, myeloprotection and neuronal protection, to treat tumors, to promote wound healing, to combat parasitic infection and to regulate hematopoiesis. Also disclosed are antagonists against such polypeptides which may be employed to treat rheumatoid arthritis, lung inflammation, allergy, infectious diseases and to prevent inflammation and atherosclerosis. Diagnostic assays for identifying mutations in nucleic acid sequence encoding a polypeptide of the present invention and for detecting altered levels of the polypeptide of the present invention for detecting diseases are also disclosed. | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US5880263 | Application Number: | US1996000726830 | Date Filed: | 08/10/1996 | Date Published: | 09/03/1999 | Assignee: | Human Genome Sciences, Inc., Rockville, MD, USA |
