Stem Cell Related Patent Number US5906938

Title:Method of reconstituting hematopoietic cells using monoclonal antibodies to the stem cell factor receptor
Inventors:Broudy, Virginia C.; Seattle, WA, USA
Summary:Described herein are methods of reconstituting hematopoietic cells using monoclonal antibodies that are specific for a cell receptor which in turn is specific for human stem cell factor (hSCF). Further disclosed are associated suitable pharmaceutical compositions containing such monoclonal antibodies, and methods of contacting a mixture of cells containing hematopoietic cells to such antibodies or fragments thereof which bind to an epitope on a receptor recognized by hSCF, such that the epitope is recognized by the monoclonal antibody produced by the hybridoma cell line ATCC No. HB 10716. Methods of separation and transplantation are provided, as are therapeutic applications in the purification and use of such reconstituted hematopoietic cells in the treatment of leukemia and solid tumors.
Abstract:The present invention relates to monoclonal antibodies specific for a cell receptor specific for human stem cell factor (hSCF) as well as pharmaceutical compositions containing such monoclonal antibodies and uses of such monoclonal antibodies for the isolation and reconstitution of hematopoietic cells expressing the stem cell factor receptor.
