Babior, Bernard M.; San Diego, CA, USA | Summary: | Described herein are methods of stabilizing and storing mammalian stem cells or lymphocytes. The invention relates to a process of suspending a population of cells in an aqueous mixture containing gelatin, wherein the cells are described as being capable of duplication and differentiation into terminally differentiated lymphoid or myeloid cells. Methods of the invention include maintaining the population of mammalian cells in a suspension in an unfrozen gel for a period greater than 24 hours and at a temperature below 25? C., such that the gel is formed from an aqueous mixture comprised of gelatin in an amount less than that which causes the aqueous mixture to gel at 40? C. Therapeutic applications in the treatment of disease with lymphoid and myeloid cells are provided. | Abstract: | Methods of stabilizing lymphocytes and/or stem cells obtained from a mammal by suspending them in an aqueous medium comprising gelatin. | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US5912174 | Application Number: | US1995000559894 | Date Filed: | 20/11/1995 | Date Published: | 15/06/1999 | Assignee: | None |
