Properties of the storage medium include buffering to maintain physiological pH in the presence of an aqueous solution comprised of approximately 130 mEq/liter of sodium, 4 mEq/liter of potassium, 109 mEq/liter of chloride, 3 mEq/liter of calcium, 28 mEq/liter of lactate, 5 mEq/liter of glucose, and 0.1-10% human serum albumin.
