Stem Cell Related Patent Number US5962268
Title: | DNA encoding an immune cell cytokine | Inventors: | Li, Yi; Gaithersburg, MD, USA
Soppet, Daniel R.; Centreville, VA, USA | Summary: | Described herein are novel isolated immune cell cytokine-like hormone polypeptides and the RNA by which they are encoded. Further disclosed are recombinant techniques by which such polypeptides may be produced, as well as properties of their associated antagonists and antibodies. Claims of the invention include the ability of such polypeptides to stimulate stem cells of the immune system. Therapeutic applications are included for the development of products in the treatment of autoimmune or inflammatory disorders, as well as various types of cancer and arthritis. | Abstract: | Human Immune Cell Cytokine-like Hormone polypeptide and DNA (RNA) encoding such polypeptide in a procedure for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques is disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for utilizing such polypeptide for stimulating the proliferation and differentiation of stem cells of the immune system. Antagonists against such polypeptides are also disclosed. The antagonists include antibodies which may be employed as a therapeutic to treat leukemia and lymphoblastoma, may also be used as imaging agents and diagnostic agents for detecting expression levels of the protein. Also disclosed are diagnostic assays for detecting diseases related to mutations in the nucleic acid sequences and altered concentrations of the polypeptides. | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US5962268 | Application Number: | US1997000780370 | Date Filed: | 09/01/1997 | Date Published: | 05/10/1999 | Assignee: | Human Genome Sciences, Inc., Rockville, MD, USA |
