Summary:This invention describes new immortalised totipotent mammalian cells, and methods and uses thereof. In particular, described are the cloning technologies of immortalized and totipotent cells as they are used in the cloning animals, via the production of embryos from these cells using nuclear transfer techniques. Further disclosed are the properties of such animals arising from these cells and embryos, and the materials, methods, and processes for establishing such cells, embryos, and animals. Emphasis is on the particular methods of bovine cloning. Details of gestation and cellular reprogramming are provided.
Abstract:The present invention relates to cloning technologies. The invention relates in part to immortalized and totipotent cells useful for cloning animals, the embryos produced from these cells using nuclear transfer techniques, animals that arise from these cells and embryos, and materials, methods, and processes for establishing such cells, embryos, and animals.
