Stem Cell Related Patent Number US6046036
Title: | DNA sequences encoding fusions of DNA repair proteins and uses thereof | Inventors: | Kelley, Mark; Zionsville, IN, USA
Williams, David; Indianapolis, IN, USA | Summary: | This invention describes new fusion proteins comprising 2 DNA repair proteins, and the uses thereof. Described are DNA-repair fusion proteins of multiple, complementary DNA repair proteins and having the activity of each protein, and related polynucleotides and vectors. Such proteins, when expressed in cells, such as hematopoietic cells, increase the survival rate of the cells when contacted with chemotherapeutic agents. Also described are transgenic animal models wherein these proteins are expressed in essentially all cells of the animal. As such proteins are used for protecting cells against DNA damage, such as by chemotherapeutic agents, or for treating DNA-repair-defective human diseases, suggestions are offered for uses of this particular animal model in the testing of chemotherapeutic agents. This invention represents a continuation of other applications filed by the same assignee and inventors. | Abstract: | Described are DNA-repair fusion proteins of multiple, complementary DNA repair proteins and having the activity of each protein, and related polynucleotides and vectors. The proteins, when expressed in cells, e.g., hematopoietic cells, increase the survival rate of the cells when contacted with chemotherapeutic agents. Also described are transgenic animal models wherein these proteins are expressed in essentially all cells of the animal. Such animal models are useful for instance in testing chemotherapeutic agents. | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US6046036 | Application Number: | US1997000957302 | Date Filed: | 24/10/1997 | Date Published: | 04/04/2000 | Assignee: | Advanced Research and Technology Institute, Bloomington, IN, USA |
