Title:Differentiation of granulocytic and monocytic progenitor cells

Summary:Described herein are methods of distinguishing monocytic and granulocytic pre-cursors from CD34-positive cells via a process of measuring the level of expression of macrophage-colony stimulating factor receptor and isolated precursor cells. The invention relates to a method of distinguishing progenitors committed to the granulo-monocytic lineage in a population containing CD34+ cells, by contacting the cells with antibodies specific for CD34, M-CSFR and CD64, which is followed by a process of detection via flow cytometry by which the cells that are CD34hi M-CSFR+ CD64- are identified and from which a CD34hi M-CSFR+ CD64- phenotype indicates granulo-monocytic lineage progenitor cells.
