Title:Chemokine receptor able to bind to MCP-1, MIP-1.alpha. and/or RANTES. Its uses
Inventors:Wells, Timothy N. C.; Geneva, Switzerland
Power, Christine A.; Geneva, Switzerland
Summary:Described herein is a chemokine receptor which binds to MIP-1?a, RANTES and/or MCP-1, methods and uses thereof. Further disclosed are properties and sequences of the polypeptides encoded by the nucleic acid molecules comprised within the vectors. Therapeutic applications include the screening of agents which may be used in the treatment of asthma, hay fever, eczema, allergies, atopic dermatitis, rhinitis and conjunctivitis.
Abstract:A chemokine receptor binds to MCP-1, MIP-1.alpha. and/or RANTES. It can be used in screening for agents which act as antagonists to MCP-1, MIP-1.alpha. and/or RANTES. Such agents may be useful in treating various disorders, including allergies, atheromas and diseases mediated by viruses. They may also be useful in preventing graft rejection and in protecting stem cells from potentially damaging effects of chemotherapy.
