Title:Regulation of osteoclast formation by inhibition of osteoblastic stem cell factor
Inventors:Blair, Harry C.; Mountain Brook, AL, USA
Summary:Described herein is an inhibitor of osteoblastic stem cell factor binding and activity, such as an antibody or an antisense oligonucleotide, methods and uses thereof. Further provided are pharmaceutical compositions comprising these inhibitors, as well as a method of regulating the activity of osteoclasts via inhibiting the binding or activity of the osteoblastic stem cell factor. The invention relates to a non-naturally occurring non-human antibody inhibitor of osteoblastic stem cell factor that binds to EEDNEISMLQ (SEQ ID NO: 1) in the extracellular domain of the membrane associated form of the osteoblastic stem cell factor, such that the antibody inhibits the binding of the osteoblastic stem cell factor to its receptor while also inhibiting differentiation of osteoclasts induced by the osteoblastic stem cell factor. Therapeutic applications are provided.
Abstract:The present invention provides an inhibitor of osteoblastic stem cell factor binding and/or activity, for example, an antibody or an antisense oligonucleotide. Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions comprising these inhibitors of osteoblastic stem cell factor binding and/or activity. Further provided is a method of regulating the activity of osteoclasts, comprising the step of: inhibiting the binding and/or activity of osteoblastic stem cell factor.
