Summary:Described herein is a novel prostate stem cell antigen protein, PSCA, methods and uses thereof. The invention relates to the use of PSCA in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer and in the production of vaccines or in the generation of antibodies for use in therapeutic assays. Further disclosed are methods for inhibiting the growth of prostate tumor cells expressing PSCA and methods of administering to a patient a monoclonal antibody which binds specifically to the extracellular domain of PSCA in an amount effective to inhibit growth of the prostate tumor cells.
Abstract:The present invention provides methods for inhibiting the growth of prostate tumor cells expressing Prostate Stem Cell Antigen (PSCA), the methods comprising administering to a patient a monoclonal antibody which binds specifically to the extracellular domain of PSCA in an amount effective to inhibit growth of the prostate tumor cells.
