Summary:Described herein is a novel pharmaceutical composition for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, composed of hematopoietic stem cells that are irradiated with an effective dose of radiation as an active ingredient. The invention relates to a method of transplanting hemopoietic stem cells via subjecting a recipient to a radiation treatment using an effective exposure dose for hemopoietic stem cell transplantation in advance of administering hemopoietic stem cells from a donor via the portal vein, thereby avoiding the graft failure and rejection rate of donor cells. Specific therapeutic applications in the treatment of autoimmune diseases are included.
Abstract:This invention relates to a method of transplanting hemopoietic stem cells which Comprises subjecting a recipient to a radiation treatment using an effective exposure dose for hemopoietic stem cell transplantation in advance and administering hemopoietic stem cells from a donor from the portal vein. By this method the graft failure/rejection of donor cells can be avoided to thereby maintain the transplant in satisfactory condition.
