Summary:This invention describes novel angiotensinogen or angiotensin peptides, and their ability to increase white blood cell survival. Therapeutic applications are specifically directed to the treatment of cancer patients following chemotherapy. Further disclosed are methods, kits, and pharmaceutical compositions for increasing the white blood cell survival in such patients, as well as methods by which hematopoietic progenitor cells may be mobilized from bone marrow into the peripheral blood. Also provided are means for the administration of an effective amount of angiotensinogen, angiotensin I (AI), AI analogues, AI fragments and analogues thereof, angiotensin II (AII), AII analogues, AII fragments or analogues thereof or AII AT2 type 2 receptor agonists, in the mobilization of such hematopoietic progenitor cells in such patients.
