May, Chad; New York, NY, USA
Summary:Described herein are methods for increasing the efficiency of hematopoietic cell engraftment in vivo by the administration of transgenic stem cells with DNA encoding resistance to a normally toxic agent. The invention relates to transgenic hematopoietic stem cells which are described as having a selective advantage over nontransgenic hematopoietic cells, and methods by which the efficacy of engraftment of such hematopoietic stem cells is increased. Therapeutic applications in protecting patients from the toxic effects of chemotherapy are included.
Abstract:A method to increase the efficiency of hematopoietic stem cell engraftment in vivo is provided.
