Stem Cell Related Patent Number US6537539
Title: | Immune cell cytokine | Inventors: | Li, Yi; Gaithersburg, MD, USA
Soppet, Daniel R.; Centreville, VA, USA | Summary: | Described herein is a novel isolated immune cell cytokine which stimulates stem cells. The invention relates to this human immune cell cytokine-like hormone polypeptide and DNA (RNA) encoding the polypeptide. Further disclosed are the methods by which such polypeptides are produced by recombinant techniques, as well as methods for utilizing the polypeptide in the stimulation of proliferation and differentiation of stem cells of the immune system. Antagonists against such polypeptides are also provided, which include antibodies which may be employed therapeutically to treat leukemia and lymphoblastoma, and which may also be used as imaging agents and diagnostic agents for detecting expression levels of the protein. Diagnostic assays are included for the detection of diseases related to mutations in the nucleic acid sequences and altered concentrations of the polypeptides. Specific amino acid residue sequences are provided, as are therapeutic applications in the treatment of auto-immune or inflammatory disorders, cancers and arthritis. | Abstract: | Human Immune Cell Cytokine-like Hormone polypeptide and DNA (RNA) encoding such polypeptide in a procedure for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques is disclosed.
