Title: | Gene whose expression promotes differentiation of myeloid progenitor cells into neutrophils and/or monocytes/macrophages | Inventors: | Schwartz, Richard C.; Haslett, MI, USA
Tian, Qiang; Kenmore, WA, USA | Summary: | Described herein are isolated cDNA molecules encoding the human C/EBP Differential Display Product-1 that promotes differentiation of undifferentiated cells, myeloid progenitor cells or hematopoietic cells. The invention relates to a human gene sequence that encodes the CDDP-1 polypeptide, which is involved in cell differentiation, in particular differentiation of undifferentiated progenitor cells into neutrophils, monocytes/macrophages, mast cells, and erythroid cells. Further disclosed are assays for detecting CDDP-1 expression, vectors that express CDDP-1, methods for using CDDP-1 to induce or promote cell differentiation, and transgenic animals deficient in one or both CDDP-1 alleles. Therapeutic applications are included, such as in the treatment of cancer, particularly leukemia. | Abstract: | | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US6605710 | Application Number: | US2001000758623 | Date Filed: | 11/01/2001 | Date Published: | 12/08/2003 | Assignee: | Board of Trustees of Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, USA |
