| Summary: | Described herein are methods of detection and isolation of stem cells via a substrate of aldehyde dehydrogenase which is converted to a detectable product. Methods and compounds for isolating stem cells and to suitable reagents are disclosed, including a fluorescent aldehyde dehydrogenase substrate composed of an aminoacetaldehyde moiety bearing a fluorescent BODIPY label. Also provided is a kit comprising the BODIPY aminoacetaldehyde diethyl acetal compound. Therapeutic applications are included, such as in organ transplantation and gene therapy. |
