Summary:This invention introduces a stable pluripotent trophoblast stem (TS) cell line, methods and uses thereof. The invention relates to cell lines comprising cells that are capable of indefinite proliferation in vitro in an undifferentiated state, and which are capable of differentiation into cells of the trophoblast lineage in vivo. Therapeutic applications are included, such as in the treatment of placental defects and for the screening of potential therapeutics which modulate trophoblast development or activity.
Abstract:Stable pluripotent trophoblast stem (TS) cell lines and uses of the cell lines are described. The cell lines comprise cells that (i) are capable of indefinite proliferation in vitro in an undifferentiated state, and (ii) are capable of differentiation into cells of the trophoblast lineage in vivo.
