Forsberg, Erik J.; Oregon, WI, USA
Bishop, Michael D.; Rio, WI, USA
Summary:This invention describes methods of cloning porcine animals via the culturing of nonembryonic totipotent porcine cells in a medium comprising a cytokine such as leukemia inhibitor factor, followed by translocation of the cell into an enucleated porcine oocyte, after which the oocyte is activated. Precise materials and methods for the cloning of such porcine animals are disclosed. Processes of translocation, activation and transfer are fully delineated.
Abstract:The present invention relates to materials and methods for cloning porcine animals. The invention relates in part to totipotent cells useful for cloning porcine animals, porcine embryos produced from such cells by employing nuclear transfer techniques, and porcine animals that arise from such cells and embryos.
