Summary:Described herein are methods of stimulating the proliferation of melanocyte cells in humans, via the administration of a stem cell factor polypeptide or its biologically active fragments, which stimulate the growth of melanocyte cells. The invention relates to novel stem cell factors and oligonucleotides encoding such factors, methods of stimulation, and the proliferation of melanocyte cells via the administration of a a therapeutically effective amount of the stem cell factor (SCF) polypeptide along with an optional pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Therapeutic applications in the treatment of blood cell disorders are included.
Abstract:Novel stem cell factors, oligonucleotides encoding the same, and methods of production, are disclosed. Pharmaceutical compositions and methods of treating disorders involving blood cells are also disclosed.
