Summary:Described herein is a method of establishing undifferentiated human embryonic stem cells via the thawing of cryopreserved human blastocyst embryos and culturing of the thawed embryos on a medium which is capable of sustaining undifferentiated embryonic stem cells. The invention relates preferably to human embryos in the blastocyst stage, which have been cryopreserved and thawed, from which at least a portion of the embryos is cultured on an appropriate medium. Methods and materials are disclosed, including medium constituents and culturing processes for the establishment of undifferentiated human embryonic stem cells.
Abstract:The invention covers a method for establishing undifferentiated human embryonic stem cells by thawing cryopreserved human embryos, preferably blastocyst stage embryos, and culturing at least a portion of the embryos on a medium capable of sustaining undifferentiated embryonic stem cells, to establish undifferentiated human embryonic stem cells.
