Title:Methods of detecting prostate stem cell antigen in cancer
Inventors:Reiter, Robert E.; Los Angeles, CA, USA
Witte, Owen N.; Sherman Oaks, CA, USA
Summary:This invention describes a novel method of detecting the prostate stem cell antigen protein, PSCA, which is widely over-expressed across all stages of prostate cancer, including high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN), androgen-dependent and androgen-independent prostate tumors. Therapeutic applications are included, such as in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, in the production of vaccines and in the generation of antibodies for use in assays. This invention represents a continuation of other applications filed by the same assignee and inventors.
Abstract:The invention provides a novel prostate cell-surface antigen, designated Prostate Stem Cell Antigen (PSCA), which is widely over-expressed across all stages of prostate cancer, including high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN), androgen-dependent and androgen-independent prostate tumors.
