Title:Nucleic acids encoding prostate stem cell antigen
Inventors:Reiter, Robert E.; Los Angeles, CA, USA
Witte, Owen N.; Sherman Oaks, CA, USA
Saffran, Douglas C.; Los Angeles, CA, USA
Jakobovits, Aya; Beverly Hills, CA, USA
Summary:This invention describes a prostate cell-surface antigen protein, designated as Prostate Stem Cell Antigen (PSCA), which is widely over-expressed across all stages of prostate cancer, including high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN) as well as in androgen-dependent and androgen-independent prostate tumors. Isolated nucleic acid molecules encoding relevant proteins and their specific amino acid sequences are provided, as are properties of the isolated vectors comprising the nucleic acid molecules addressed herein. Further disclosed are methods and materials for producing the PSCA protein under suitable culture conditions, as are therapeutic applications in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer and in the production of vaccines or the generation of antibodies in such applications.
Abstract:The invention provides a novel prostate cell-surface antigen, designated Prostate Stem Cell Antigen (PSCA), which is widely over-expressed across all stages of prostate cancer, including high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN), androgen-dependent and androgen-independent prostate tumors.
