Title:Progenitor cell preservation factors and methods for and products of their use
Inventors:Colucci, M. Gabriella; La Jolla, CA, USA

Moore, Jeffrey G.; Kennebunkport, ME, USA
Summary:This invention describes a pharmaceutical formulation comprised of a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a protein which binds to a glycosylated fms-like tyrosine kinase-3 receptor. Further disclosed are the FRIL family of progenitor cell preservation factors and nucleic acids encoding such factors, which have been shown to preserve progenitor cells both in vivo and ex vivo. Therapeutic applications of such FRIL family members are included, such as in the preservation of hematopoietic progenitor cells and in the alleviation of the hematopoietic progenitor cell-depleting activity of many cancer therapeutics.
Abstract:Disclosed are the FRIL family of progenitor cell preservation factors and nucleic acids encoding the same. FRIL family members preserve progenitor cells both in vivo and ex vivo. FRIL family members find use as therapeutics for alleviating and/or reducing the hematopoietic progenitor cell-depleting activity of many cancer therapeutics. FRIL family members are also useful for isolating rare, primitive progenitor cells.
