Title: | Materials and procedures for the purification of cells | Inventors: | Lawman, Michael J. P.; Chipley, FL, USA
Lawman, Patricia; Chipley, FL, USA | Summary: | Described herein is a conductive polymer matrix and methods for its use in the purification of cells. The invention relates to novel materials and methods for the efficient isolation and purification of stem cells via the use of conductive immunopolymers with stem cell specific antibodies which can be used to remove the cells from biological fluids. Further disclosed are the properties of the conductive immunopolymer matrix, such that there exists a first immunopolymer layer comprising a polyheteroaromatic polymer and an Fc receptor entrapped within the polymer, such that a first antibody is bound to the Fc receptor in the first polymer. Further described is a second immunopolymer layer comprising a polyheteroaromatic polymer and an Fc receptor entrapped within polymer, such that a second antibody is bound to the Fc receptor in the second polymer in such a manner that the second antibody binds to a determinant or antigen to which the first antibody does not bind. The cell monitoring system comprised by the first and second immunopolymer layers are further described, such that the cell monitoring system comprises horseradish peroxidase and glucose oxidase entrapped within the first and second immunopolymers. Therapeutic applications are described, such as in the isolation of cells from molecules with antibodies which exhibit binding specificity for the target molecules. | Abstract: | The subject invention provides new materials and methods for the efficient isolation and purification of stem cells. Specifically, conductive immunopolymers with stem cell specific antibodies can be used to remove stem cells from biological fluids. | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US7015034 | Application Number: | US2001000981639 | Date Filed: | 17/10/2001 | Date Published: | 21/03/2006 | Assignee: | Morphogenesis, Inc., Chipley, FL, USA |
