| Summary: | This invention introduces a novel composition containing a glutathione compound which is useful for stimulating and modulating hematopoiesis. The invention relates to lipid formulations of a glutathione analog and methods of manufacturing them as well as their pharmaceutical compositions. Applications are described in the stimulation of hematopoiesis, to protect hematopoietic cells from damage caused by radiation or chemotherapy, and to potentiate the stimulatory action of one or a combination of cytokines in the formation of colonies by hematopoietic progenitor cells. Also included are therapeutic applications in protecting patients from the destructive effects of a chemotherapeutic agent or irradiation. |
