Summary:This is a continuation of patent no. US7097823, by the same assignee and inventors. This invention further develops a therapeutic method for treating leukemia, in which hydration of the patient is followed by administration of the radioprotectant, after which the patient receives a stem cell transplant, instead of full body radiation. Specific radioprotectant and stem cell transplantation methods are disclosed.
Abstract:The present invention relates to a method of suppressing bone marrow (BM) and treating conditions that arise in or near bone such as cancer, myeloproliferative diseases, autoimmune diseases, infectious diseases, metabolic diseases or genetic diseases, with compositions having as their active ingredient a radionuclide complexed with a chelating agent such as macrocyclic aminophosphonic acid.
