Title: | Compositions and methods for cryopreservation of peripheral blood lymphocytes | Inventors: | Hubel, Allison; St. Paul, MN, USA | Summary: | This invention comprises a novel composition and method for cryopreserving cells in a non-toxic medium, which is composed of the following: a balanced electrolyte solution, a cryoprotective agent that is arabinogalactan, or a biological or functional equivalent thereof, in an amount of 1% w/v to 40% w/v, a cryoprotective agent that penetrates the cell membrane, and freshly isolated lymphocytes, hematopoietic stem cells, lymphocytes which are modified ex vivo, or a combination thereof. The medium does not comprise dimethylsulfoxide or serum; the arabinogalactan, a biological or functional equivalent thereof, in the medium results in a high post-thaw survival rate for the freshly isolated lymphocytes, hematopoietic stem cells, or lymphocytes which are modified ex vivo. | Abstract: | A composition and method for cryopreserving cells in a non-toxic medium is described. The composition and method provide cells for cell therapy and other in vivo applications. | US Patent Website: | Click Here for Full Text of Patent | Title Number: | US7112576 | Application Number: | US1999000458862 | Date Filed: | 10/12/1999 | Date Published: | 26/09/2006 | Assignee: | Regents of the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, USA |
