Stem Cell Related Patent Number US7115267

Title:Stimulator of stem cell division
Inventors:Wolpe, Stephen D.; Rockville, MD, USA
Tsyrlova, Irena; Gaithersburg, MD, USA
Summary:Described herein are methods for the isolation and use of stem cell modulating factors for regulating stem cell cycles and for accelerating post-chemotherapy peripheral blood cell recovery. Also disclosed are the inhibitors and stimulators of stem cell proliferation by which stem cell division in a mammal is stimulated via exposure to an agent which damages or destroys stem cells. Precise amino acid sequences of the polypeptide are disclosed, as are methods of administration of a stem cell proliferating agent such as INPROL, in adequate amounts, wherein INPROL is selected from the group consisting of the alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon and zeta chains of hemoglobin. Therapeutic applications are included such as in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, cancer, psoriasis, AIDS, anemia and in the management of pain.
Abstract:Disclosed and claimed are methods for the isolation and use of stem cell modulating factors for regulating stem cell cycle and for accelerating the post-chemotherapy peripheral blood cell recovery. Also disclosed and claimed are the inhibitors and stimulators of stem cell proliferation.
