Title:Differentiation-suppressive polypeptide serrate-2 and methods of use
Inventors:Sakano, Seiji; Shizuoka, Japan
Itoh, Akira; Shizuoka, Japan
Summary:This invention describes novel human serrate-2 gene expression products, specifically, a human serrate-2 polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence which regulates differentiation. Further disclosed are methods of production of such a peptide, and properties of an antibody which specifically recognizes this polypeptide. Methods for suppressing the differentiation of undifferentiated cells via contacting the cells with isolated polypeptides are also provided, as are therapeutic applications in the regulation of cell differentiation and in the treatment of neoplasms such as leukemia.
Abstract:A novel human serrate-2 polypeptide consisting of a polypeptide containing the amino acid sequence described in SEQ ID NO:1 in the Sequence Listing and having the effect of regulating the differentiation of undifferentiated cells involving stem cells; its gene; a process for producing the same; and an antibody specifically recognizing the polypeptide.
